What Vick did is completely disgusting and reprehensible. He made solid entry passes to Batts, contributing to Batts career night. Boxing is different from the major sports– you don’t have an automatic “hometown team” to root for.
Seton Hall junior Nicole Emery had 14 points and freshman Kandice Green added 11 points and 6 rebounds as Seton Hall (15-8, 3-7 Big East) suffered a frustrating loss to Villanova, 54-51, on Saturday at Walsh Gym in South Orange. Villanova (15-8, 7-2 Big East) was led by Laura Kurz with 18 points and 9 rebounds.
“We asked him who he compares himself to and he said Deron Williams. But you never want to put a lot of pressure on a kid. We aren’t looking for him to make an impact now.
On how he feels about the team going into the year: “I feel very strong. We’re very talented, we return experience, we have leadership and those three components once mixed together can provide a potent team. Now we have to have that same mentality week in and week out. We can’t get mentally or physically tired and be barraged by media or stuff within the players and coaches. If we maintain our focus and keep those three components strong.I don’t feel like there is any team out there that is head and shoulders above us. There are teams we are going to have to come in and work hard to beat, but that is with everybody on this level. Especially with our schedule and especially within our conference.
As important as the wide receiver position and the backup running back position are to the offense it is probably more important that the Rams address the guard position. Last year the middle of the offensive line was a problem, specifically at right guard. The Rams could address that in Day Two. Benjamin Iljana from Villanova and Will Rackley from Lehigh are both guys I would be very excited about if the Rams got one of those two with their two picks tonight. Since both played for Non-D1 schools people might not know a lot about them, but both are players that could come in and possibly start right away. Keep an eye on those two.
It may be unfair to bash Anderson before he hires a new coach, but the search has been a disaster thus far. He had a slam dunk in Leach as the next football coach but didn’t pull the trigger, and then he somehow messed up with Miller. It seems to me that he is rather incompetent in his new position at Maryland.
Maryland then took a glance at Mike Brey, but he is staying at Notre Dame. That’s actually not a bad scenario, as I don’t see Brey being the answer at Maryland. However, a number of potential coaches have now turned back the Terps, and that’s bad news because it makes the job look less attractive.
The key matchup will be Notre Dame’s All-Big East sophomore guard Skylar Diggins (14.4 points and 4.5 assists per game) versus the Owls’ Shey Peddy – a 5-foot-7 junior who leads the team in scoring at 13.9 per game and is first team All-Atlantic 10.
Georgetown is battle tested and looking for a return to the Final Four. Louisville fought the Hoyas hard on the road this past Saturday, making the Cardinals the biggest threat to Georgetown this week. But rising teams like Notre Dame and West Virginia, plus traditional powers like Uconn and Syracuse, will provide severe challenges to them. Still, Georgetown and Louisville are on track for a Big East championship showdown. If they succeed, Georgetown’s experience and stifling defense should give them a second straight Big East title, and momentum for their quest to take the next step in the NCAA tournament.
