March Madness Highlights From The Past Decade

And you inject Cameron Dohse, he’s a wide receiver who had a little nagging thing. The Red Storm could be without point guard Malik Boothe, who has missed the last five games with injury. But you never want to put a lot of pressure on a kid.
Wow! UNC is able to win it’s fourth title while Roy Williams win his first. A great match up – Sean May put up 26 points and Carolina shut out Illinois in the last 2 1/2 minutes to win by 5.

Anybody from a stacked-for-a-mid-major-conference Atlantic 10 can make some noise. Xavier, Massachusetts, Saint Joe’s, and Rhode Island all possess the talent necessary for a Sweet 16 berth. Two teams from this conference making it that far wouldn’t be overly shocking. As it is, Rhode Island will garner an at-large berth and you ought to watch their first-round match-up.

On players being overlooked going into the season: “I don’t think any player on our defense should be overlooked. If you try to fit your game plan towards one person or one position group, the other people are going to step up I feel like. That’s the mentality I feel like we have across the board, ‘If you’re not giving me the respect I feel I deserve, I’m going to take it.’ So watch out for everybody.

Sam Young, Memphis (#36) – How Sam Young fell this far is beyond me. Young averaged 19 points and 6 rebounds per game during his senior season at Pittsburgh and tormented defenders with his pump fake. More than that, though, the 6-6 Young can play two positions and is as tough as they come. He will play right away for a bad Memphis team, and that will help him develop. There is no way 35 players in this draft were better than Young.

Georgetown is currently ranked #7 in the AP and #8 in the Coaches Poll right now but finds themselves in fourth place in the Big East standings right now. They certainly remember one of their losses to Villanova back on January 17th, but with how close that game ended, Georgetown is certainly not going to be intimidated by this Villanova team.

On his expectations for the offense: “I think our offense is definitely going to be good. I feel like we have a high-powered offense. We have weapons on the perimeter, weapons in the backfield and I think our line is solid. We’ve got a lot of veterans returning and R.J. got a lot experience and I think he can lead the team.

Kurz gave Villanova the lead again, 47-46, with a three point play at the 1:06 mark. After Nova’s Siobhan O’Connor hit a pair of free throws to push the Wildcats lead to three points, Seton Hall sophomore Ebonie Williams sank a pair of free throws to cut the lead to 49-48 with 15.8 seconds left. In between two pairs of free throws by O’Connor was a traveling call on Williams which essentially ended any hopes Seton Hall had.
