College Football Futility Rankings – Week 3 – Musings On Losing

Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery is adamant that his Hawkeyes are not far off. The injury did allow Landry Jones to get his feet wet, and now Oklahama once again looks poised to win the South. IT WOULD BE NICE IF KANSAS STATE COULD: Beat Kansas.
It’s that time of year. It’s time for Kansas to open Big 12 play and close in on the last leg of the college basketball season with the NCAA Tournament looming on the horizon. Kansas will face a 10-3 Iowa State Cyclone team hoping for big things tonight, January 9, 2013, 6 P.M. on ESPNU.

However, Roy Finch came into Oklahoma as the No. 4 all-purpose back according to Rivals and finished his freshman year with 398 rushing yards and two touchdowns. The yardage was second only to DeMarco Murray and fans expected the speedy runner to take the lead role in 2011.

When week 5 comes, your Aggies will play the Razorbacks of Arkansas. This Texas A&M Aggies vs Arkansas Razorbacks showdown will take place on Saturday of week 5. Conference games are always a little more important than other games and this is a Big 12 – South conference battle. As we look inside the number for the Arkansas Razorbacks, they were #4th in passing and #69th in rushing in college football in 2010. The Arkansas Razorbacks will take this game. The most important thing to look at is the record of the respective teams and, in this respect, the Arkansas Razorbacks were 10 – 3 in 2010.

DeMarco Murray came into the year entrenched as the starter. As the season progressed, Murray began to break numerous Oklahoma records, including the all-time rushing touchdown title, held since the late ’60s by Hall of Famer Steve Owens. However, as the season wore on, Murray found himself losing carries to a freshman phenom named Roy Finch. By the end of the year, the two were splitting carries and Finch was getting more attention down the line.

This completes next year’s out-of-conference schedule. In addition to their home game against Pitt, they also host San Jose State. Their two road games are at Iowa State basketball and Notre Dame.

IT WOULD BE NICE IF TEXAS COULD: Not only beat Colorado, but beat Kansas State and Kansas as well. The ‘Horns led the ‘Hawks through much of Saturday’s regular season finale in Lawrence before succumbing by 10. Beating the ‘Cats would also make up for an overtime loss in Austin.

Why he is absent from the depth chart is a mystery right now but the fact is that Finch is only 5-7, 166 lbs. While he is explosive and exciting, he is not built to take punishment. He missed five games in 2010 due to injury and maybe head coach Bob Stoops wants to use the speedster as a change-of-pace back.
