The coming months of conference play will undoubtedly shake things up a bit as some teams will flourish while others perish. I think UNC takes the second of their season series, but drops the final to the Blue Devils.
The guards kept flying off the board as the 2009 NBA Draft got underway and all the Sixers could do was cross their fingers and wait. Whoever was the object of their affection-and rest assured, no one was about to drop any hints-may or may not have been gone within the first hour after Commissioner David Stern called this draft to order.
It was Rocky Balboa vs. Apollo Creed, a street fight till the end. Pitt was looking for its first berth in the Final Four since 1941, while Villanova its first since the Cinderella championship run in 1985.
Get the ball to #50 and get the &@#$ out of the way. It’s no secret that UNC’s advantage in this game, as in most, is its post presence. In Tyler Hansbrough and Deon Thompson, the Heels have a couple of guys who can – and in this case, will be expected to – put up double-digt points while getting the lion’s share of the rebounds. Hansbrough doesn’t have to worry about Blake Griffin anymore, so expect him and Thompson to combine for at least 20 shots today.

The key matchup will be Notre Dame’s All-Big East sophomore guard Skylar Diggins (14.4 points and 4.5 assists per game) versus the Owls’ Shey Peddy – a 5-foot-7 junior who leads the team in scoring at 13.9 per game and is first team All-Atlantic 10.
On what Archer does differently from Archer: “I would say he’s a little more athletic. Jake was a more in between the tackles guy, more of a run you over than run by you guy. He has a good as arm as Jake, I think his deep ball is a little bit better in terms of consistency so I think maybe being able to move and to throw the ball down the field with a little more consistency is maybe the difference.
For Big East fans, there isn’t much to complain about so far. The conference as a whole is performing as expected, if not better than expected. The coming months of conference play will undoubtedly shake things up a bit as some teams will flourish while others perish.
