The Iowa-Northwestern game is one of 14 night games being played inside the Big Ten Conference this season. The Canadian put up 10.3 points and 6.7 rebounds for every game. Besides the obvious ‘no defense’ answer, well. there is no other answer.
There is a buzz in Cyclone land as CoachGreg McDermott heads into his fourth season. McDermott has a reputation for rebuilding programs as is shown by his tremendous work at Northern Iowa. He made them a Missouri Valley powerhouse with multiple NCAA appearances.
Texas Longhorns – Colt McCoy has left Garrett Gilbert with some big shoes to fill, and my guess is that it is going to take him some time to fill those shoes. Coach Mack Brown agrees, and that’s why he is changing his offense to a more traditional one with a power running game to create easy play-action opportunities for Gilbert. I expect Longhorns fans to really realize just how special of a player McCoy was this year.
Blank reached base in all five plate appearances, drawing a season-high four walks to go along with a triple and an RBI. She has reached base in the last 24 contests. Massey helped herself at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with a run, walk and RBI.

This completes next year’s out-of-conference schedule. In addition to their home game against Pitt, they also host San Jose State. Their two road games are at Iowa State basketball and Notre Dame.
Iowa State also shot the three-ball incredibly well last season, draining 275 (8.6 every game) of their shots from beyond the arc. That was sufficient to pace the conference and rank 13th around the country.
As Dan McCool’s significance in the U.S. amateur wrestling community extends past state lines, so does the significance of his layoff. and not just for those of us who regularly read his coverage of the Iowa Hawkeyes or Iowa State Cyclones or the Iowa high school state tournament. McCool’s layoff is a bodyslam to efforts to grow the sport. By being a regular presence in the major newspaper in Iowa, Dan McCool’s expert reporting and sharp writing helped attract new fans – and new athletes – to wrestling.
