While not everybody gets a chance of stardom, a few have and they have done it up big. Robert Plant is about to finish up some prior commitments with country singer Alison Krauss. He appeared in Blues Brothers alongside John Belushi.
Another legendary group, Led Zeppelin, takes the #2 spot in the list. While their run ended prematurely with John Bonham’s death; Led Zeppelin accomplished so much during their reign that they are still one of the most well-known bands in the world.
Lisa Lavie – Another Canadian born singer and songwriter who used the Internet to promote her music has had her vocals appear on soundtracks of major motion pictures. Lavie released her debut album in 2008 “Everything or Nothing”. Her album reached #20 on iTunes pop chart. Her featured video was a finalist among all videos in the 2007 YouTube Awards.
2) Robert Plant is one of the most amazing singers and one of the best frontman of all time. For anyone who’s just coming out of a 40 year coma and living in a bubble, Plant is the lead vocalist for the best band ever: Led Zeppelin. Zeppelin reunited to perform two shows in England at the end of 2007. These concerts received rave reviews and left us all dreaming of a U.S. tour. I, personally, have been waiting my entire life to see this band live. So what does Plant do? He comes to Red Rocks last year and plays with Alison Krauss instead of playing with, oh I don’t know, maybe . . . JIMMY PAGE! I’m still smarting from that, and the Grammys brought all of that hurt right back to the fore.
Their name comes from the creative combination of Ted Nugent’s single “Cat Scratch Fever,” and the artist “Cat Stevens.” As with traditional bands, the emerging industry of imitation bands also requires a catchy moniker. Others in the mash-up tribute pursuit have hit the stage with Incubush (Incubus/Bush combo), Knopfler Radar (Dire Straits/Golden Earring), and Seger Genesis (Bob Seger/Genesis).
Justice League went to Penny’s neighbor. Return to the Batcave went to a friend in Penny’s boyfriend’s band. The Tick ended up with a friend of a friend of a friend.
Cue the market opportunity that is the ‘cover band.’ Insert the opportunistic outfit that is “Paradise City,” the Guns ‘n’ Roses tribute band. Chuck Klosterman explains their share of the market here.
You see, if you ingest enough of anything you can become intoxicated. Being intoxicated is, essentially, when there is more of some other liquid in your body than oxygen-carrying blood. Whatever that substance is it can have the same effect as when you down a bunch of shots. If you go past a certain point at any time with any liquid and have more of the liquid in your system then your own blood your body shuts down.
Well these are just a few of some of the truly great blues guitarists. There are many more out there I encourage you to find and listen to. Listening to some of the greats will have a positive influence on your playing no doubt.
