No matter how old we are, how disappointed we are, we can not forget our dreams. He really is this introvert who is sort of lost and needs some guidance. One other director that has to be mentioned on any list of mine is Quentin Tarantino.
What’s a “treadmill movie?” The treadmill home videos available on the Internet mostly feature dogs, cats, and (even a shrimp!) on treadmills, people falling off treadmills, and men dancing on treadmills. No, treadmill movies is not where treadmills are the featured hero, villain, or theme. A treadmill movie is one people watch while using a treadmill! People have being doing this at the gym for years, but now that some home treadmills have bigger screens and can connect to the Internet, home users can choose the movies themselves.
Dances with Wolves- This is Costner’s most critically acclaimed film. He directed the epic and it 12 years a slave awards years a slave awards for Best Picture of 1990. It also won six other Oscars, including Best Director. Costner stars as Lt. John Dunbar in the film. The U.S Army sends Dunbar to protect a desolate outpost on frontier land. Dunbar become friends with a tribe of Sioux Indians and eventually joins them. Many of the scenes in the film, like the buffalo-hunting scene, are visual masterpieces. Costner does a wonderful job of playing a man who is lost and eventually discovers himself and his place in the world. The film is more than three hours long, but it is worth watching every minute.
The first surprise is that this movie is funny. This isn’t a bad thing. The Coen Brothers added their brilliantly witty dialogue to this classic tale of kidnapping and murder and made the film their own. By combining those elements with an incredible cast, the Coens have whipped up one of the best American westerns since Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven.
Carly Simon may have had a huge hit with her song “You’re So Vain” back in 1972 (through current times), but it was the song “Let The River Run” that won her an Oscar. The song was both written and performed by Simon for the movie Working Girl, which stars Melanie Griffith, Harrison Ford, Sigourney Weaver, Alec Baldwin, and Joan Cusack. Those three named actresses were all also nominated for Oscars for their roles in Working Girl, however, Carly Simon the singer was the only one to take home a statue.
1979 brought the live album, At Budokan, and Dylan’s announcement that he was a born-again Christian. For the next few years, he released a series of Christian albums, mostly to poor reviews. However, “Slow Train Coming” received mixed reviews, went to #3 and Platinum.
One movie that without question makes the cut for any list of Morgan Freeman, Tim Robbins, or all time greatest movies would have to be The Shawshank Redemption. This is my personal number one film of all time and with good reason, it’s a life -changing movie.
Throughout this article I have referred to Bob Dylan as a rock legend but it is impossible to encapsulate him in one phrase. When I began writing this biography I did not realize the magnitude of his life’s work. He follows his heart and marches to the beat of his own drum. Perhaps that is what makes him Bob Dylan, the rock legend and so much more?
